Today I have a short and sweet post to match the parable I want to highlight.
Did you know that there’s a parable in the Bible that is only 1 verse long? Short but powerful.
It’s Matthew 13:33…
Where Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a bit of yeast that a woman put into 3 lumps of dough and it spread through the whole lump…
And one translation says it was put into 60lbs of dough until it was all leavened.
You don’t need to be an expert baker to understand the impact of yeast for though you only need a small amount to bake bread…
It spreads and causes the whole loaf to rise to achieve perfect and delicious fluffiness.
On the other hand – no yeast…no rising.

As with any parable there are many good points that can be drawn out but the one I want to focus on is that you don’t need to start out with something big and amazing in order for God’s word and truth to take root in your life…
Nor do you need to start out with something big and amazing for Jesus to do something big and amazing through you…
You also don’t need to be a spectacular person for our LORD – who takes the weak and broken things of this world to reveal His glory to and through you (1 Corinthians 1:27)
The truth of who God is, revealed in Jesus has a way of growing and spreading wherever it goes.
Now, my personal tendency is to judge what’s “good” by how big it feels…
If it doesn’t feel big and important then it’s not (or so I constantly annoyingly think)…
But this one simple verse always brings me back to remembering that Jesus’ Kingdom comes through small, consistent acts of faithfulness that compound over time.
It is SSSOOO easy to judge things day by day (I know I tend to) but when you let go of judgment and instead trust Jesus’ leadership…
You’re making the choice to surrender your life to Him – like a lump of dough – for Him to put His word and Kingdom reality into…
Knowing that one day it will spread not only through you but beyond you.
There’s a good chance your role in God’s Kingdom is going to be hidden, misunderstood, criticized, and overlooked…
If not by others then by you.
Please, don’t doubt the little steps…
for a little yeast, successfully added to a big lump of dough, will spread and cause the entire thing to rise…
So keep on reading your Bible even if it’s only for 3 minutes a day…
Keep on praying in secret for the one who sees in secret will reward you (Matthew 6:3-4).
Keep on singing though no one but God ever hears…
Keep on doing what He has put on your heart no matter how mundane or small it feels right now.
Keep on writing, keep on loving, keep on keeping on until you see Jesus face…
For He is so worthy and so worth it.
